A simple LinkedIn engagement hack
Aug 11, 2024Getting engagement on your content is hard. It's a constant battle to stay visible. One day you can be top of the world and the next feel totally invisible.
I've been using this little hack to help me get more traffic from my old posts, to my new posts. I'm essentially trying to leverage past engagement to drive new engagement.
I'll show you in this quick article.
The next time you post, I want to to give this a try.
Step #1 - Take the link for your new post (once you've posted it)
Step #2 - Write a teaser caption for your new post (the one you just posted)
This is a short and punchy teaser that will give people a compelling reason to take a look at the post.
For example:
😱 The truth about social selling that no one tells you.
Myth #3 and #6 are the biggest in my book.
I recommend adding one single emoji at the beginning of the caption to draw attention.
Step #3 Combine the teaser with your link
In doc, paste the teaser copy and the post link, like this:
😱 The truth about social selling that no one tells you.
Myth #3 and #6 are the biggest in my book.
Step #4 Paste this into the comments of your last 3 posts
Go ahead and paste that copy and link onto 3 of your last or top performing posts.
Why do this?
This action generates a notification for people who have engaged with your previous posts and some of those will be curious and take a look. It's hack, but it's a simple one and it works well. It helps you retain some of the people who have liked and commented on past posts.
Is it a bit needy?
Maybe, but who the hell cares - it works. If someone is going to judge you harshly because you do this, do you really care about them anyway? Let's keep it in context, you're not stealing sweets from children - this is social media.
I do it, it gives my audience a nudge to come check out what I'm talking about today.
I dare you to give it a try.
