As you know, I recently became a Co-Founder at Commenter.ai - an AI tool to help you comment faster and with more meaning. I began by consistently commenting on posts from prospective clients, influencers, and my existing network. This wasn’t just any commenting—I made sure my contributions were insightful and added value to the conversations. The results were nothing short of amazing. While creating content is essential, one often overlooked but equally powerful strategy is commenting. Yes, you read that right. Thoughtful, strategic commenting can transform your LinkedIn.

Build Rapport with Prospective Clients

The Problem: Prospective clients often feel distant and hard to connect with. Cold outreach can come across as insincere, making it difficult to build trust and initiate meaningful conversations.

The Promise: By consistently commenting on your prospective clients' posts, you can break through the barrier, show genuine interest, and build rapport.

My Experience: Initially, I struggled with cold outreach. It felt awkward, and I rarely got responses. Then I started commenting on my prospective clients' posts. I showed genuine interest in their work, asked questions, and offered insights. Suddenly, I was no longer a stranger—I was a trusted voice they recognised.

Why It Works:

  • Visibility: Your name and face become familiar.
  • Credibility: Thoughtful comments demonstrate your expertise.

Action Step: Comment on at least 30 prospective clients’ posts daily. Share insights, ask questions, and offer value.

The Problem: Standing out on LinkedIn can be tough. Your content might not get the attention it deserves because it's competing with thousands of other posts in the feed.

The Promise: By engaging with influencers' content, you can position yourself in front of a broader audience and drive traffic to your own profile and content.

My Experience: I wanted more visibility for my posts but struggled to break through the noise. I started commenting on influencers' content, adding meaningful insights and engaging with their followers. It was a revelation. Not only did I attract attention to my profile, but I also gained followers who appreciated my contributions.

Why It Works:

  • Exposure: Your comments are seen by the influencer's followers.
  • Connections: Attracts like-minded individuals to your network.
  • Authority: Associating with influencers can enhance your credibility.

Action Step: Engage with 20 influencers' posts every day. Make your comments insightful and relevant to stand out.

The Problem: It's easy to get lost in the noise on LinkedIn. If you're not consistently engaging, you risk becoming invisible to your existing connections, missing out on potential opportunities.

The Promise: By regularly commenting on your existing network's posts, you can stay top of mind and visible in their feed.

My Experience: I noticed that I was missing out on opportunities within my own network. My connections weren't engaging with my posts because I wasn't engaging with theirs. I made it a habit to comment on their posts daily. It made a huge difference. Not only did my visibility increase, but my connections also started engaging more with my content, leading to more meaningful conversations.

My Daily Commenting Routine: The Transformation

To put this into perspective, I comment on 30 prospects, 20 influencers, and 30 people within my network every day. This routine has led to a steady flow of leads, higher engagement, and some incredible conversations. As a result, I've built up a network of trusted contacts and valuable relationships.

  • Lead Generation: Consistent flow of leads from engaging comments.
  • Higher Engagement: Increased interaction on my own posts.

To streamline your commenting efforts, create a document with the LinkedIn URLs of the people you regularly engage with. Include their recent activity links so you can quickly access and comment on their latest posts. For example:

Steps to Implement:

  1. Create a Document: Use Google Docs, Word, or any note-taking app.
  2. List Your Targets: Add the LinkedIn profile URLs of your prospects, influencers, and network contacts.
  3. Include Activity Links: Copy the 'recent activity' link of each person (e.g., Dean's Recent Activity).
  4. Daily Routine: Use this document to quickly check and comment on their latest posts.
