How often should I post on LinkedIn?

How often should I post on LinkedIn?

linkedin Nov 10, 2024

It’s the million-dollar question, isn’t it? “Dean, how often should I post?”

People search this all the time, and the advice out there is all over the place.

I post around 10 times a week.

But before you panic, understand that’s because LinkedIn is central to what I do.

For most people, three posts a week is enough to make LinkedIn work without it becoming a second job.

Here’s why: posting consistently creates momentum. When people engage with your posts, LinkedIn shows them more of your content.

But if you’re posting all over the place with no consistency, you’ll miss out on that momentum.

A regular schedule helps LinkedIn favour your posts and keeps you visible.

Why three posts?

Look, three posts a week is enough to keep you in people’s minds and build trust. You don’t need to write novels - in fact, shorter and simpler usually works better.

Most people waste time editing and overthinking until their post says nothing.

People don’t want perfection - they want real.

Build up a posting rhythm that sticks

If you’re starting from scratch, don’t jump straight into three posts a week. You’ll end up burning out, and a month later, you won’t be posting at all.

Here’s a strategy to work your way up without overloading yourself:

  1. Month 1: Pick one day a week - say, Tuesday at 10 a.m. - and post every week. This helps you get into the habit.

  2. Month 2: Add a second post, maybe on Thursday. Now you’ve got a bit more consistency, but it’s still manageable.

  3. Month 3: Add the third post. By now, you’ll have built up a routine, and three posts a week won’t feel like a mountain to climb.

When you get into a regular rhythm, LinkedIn starts working for you.

It’s like clockwork - the more you post, the more visible you are, and the more people get to know you.

Keep your timing consistent

Timing matters less than sticking to a schedule.

Pick the same days and times to post so people know when to expect you.

Familiarity builds trust - and when people feel they know you, they’re more likely to engage with you.

I’ve seen so many people dive in thinking they’ll post every day and become “LinkedIn famous.”

And a month later?

Silence.

Consistency beats volume every time.

Three posts a week is plenty to build your presence, keep your sanity, and still get results.
